Mapping of Israeli assault: July 12-28

The Maps of Israeli Assault on Lebanon are developed by a group of activists to demonstrate the reality of the Israeli assault on Lebanon. An act of collective punishment that is overreaching and unequivocal, and opposite to Prime Minister's Ehud Olmert claim that Israel is "not fighting the Lebanese government or the Lebanese people".

The map is our attempt at understanding the cumulative impact of such an attack on our lives as citizens and on the thousands being killed or displaced daily. The figures and numbers on the map speak for themselves. As you look at the map, we urge you to remember that these dark dots you see, are villages and towns where thousands of civilians reside, the majority of which are now numbers in a long list of dead and displaced.

“Amnesty International (AI) is gravely concerned that civilians continue to bear the brunt of the mounting tension between Israel and Lebanon. In the past week some 300 Lebanese civilians, including dozens of children, have been killed and hundreds injured in a large-scale bombing campaign by Israeli forces, who have also deliberately targeted and destroyed dozens of bridges, roads, powers stations, the airport and port, and other civilian facilities and infrastructure.”

حرب اسرائيل على لبنان في يوميها السادس والسابع- الاستهدافات المدنية

تواصلت الحرب على لبنان من قبل الالة العسكرية الاسرائلية العاتية، في اعنف حملة شرسة، لم يشهدها منذ سنوات، مطلقة حممها ومشكلة حزاماً من النار يلف مختلف المناطق، دون ان يخلو الحديث في الاوساط الطبية عن استعمال اسلحة محرمة وقذائف فسفورية، رصدها الدكتورين بشير شام في صيدا وعلي سرحان في النبطية.
واللافت دولياً تعدد الوفود الزائرة من بينها رئيس الوزراء الفرنسي "دي فلبان" الذي اقترح اعلاناً لوقف النار انسانياً، وتضامنه مع لبنان دون ان يخرج عن اطار سياسة حكومته المحددة بتطبيق القرار 1559، وغادره مصحوباً بأمان الله وبرعايا الدولة الفرنسية. وترافقت الزيارة مع وفد البعثة الدولية ، الخالية الوفاض من اي مبادرة او افكار واضحة يعمل لاجلها، بعد ان ركزت جهودها على مصير الجنديين الاسرائليين. بموازاة ذلك صدر موقف مجموعة الدول الثمانية المجتمعة في "بطرسبرغ" بالدعوة الى نشر قوة دولية لمنع حزب الله في جنوب لبنان من اطلاق صواريخه على اسرائيل، ويكون لديها تفويض من الامم المتحدة، فيما انهى مجلس الامن مشوارته المغلقة من دون اصدار بيان بشأن الوضع الذي وصفه مسؤول في الامم المتحدة بأنه " حرب مفتوحة" فيما أوضح مسؤول كبير في وزارة الخارجية الامريكية طلب عدم ذكر اسمه ان واشنطن تريد ان تترك لاسرائيل الوقت كي تفكك حزب الله قبل الدعوة الى وقف النار. ويأتي الموقف العربي الخجول والمتسم برتابته متناغماً مع الوضع الدولي
هذه الحماية التي توفرها امريكا لاسرائيل في عملياتها العدوانية الماحقة لشعب بأكمله، تشكل عقاباً للشعب اللبناني واضعافاً للدولة اللبنانية بتدمير بناها التحتية ومنشأتها المدنية. ومما يؤسف له ايلاء مهمة تطبيق القرار الدولي لأداة اسرائلية...
وأهم ما تميزت به العمليات العسكرية الاسرائلية التدميرية في يوميها الماضيين، باستهدافاتها للجوانب التالية:
- انحسار الضغط الناري عن بعض المناطق، ومضاعفته على مناطق اخرى في البقاع الغربي وبعلبك والرميلة قرب صيدا وجبيل، وبشكل تواصلت معه دوامة الموت والتدمير في ظل اجتياح ناري جرى ويجري لسائر المناطق، من دون ان يوفر المدنيين والمنشأت الحيوية وهوائيات الاتصالات ومراكز الردارات العسكرية ومحطات الطاقة والمحروقات والمصانع وثكن الخدمات العسكرية ... بحيث بلغت الضحايا في اليوميين الماضيين أكثر من ستين ضحية ، وما يفوق المئة جريح . وقد اوردت الصحف اللبنانية احصاء اوليا لعدد الضحايا الذين بلغوا حتى مساء امس 245 ضحية و552 جريحاً . والمستشفيات مكتظة بالجرحى، وهي بحاجة للمواد الطبية اللازمة. يضاف الى ذلك ان عدد من الجثث التي مازالت تحت الانقاض بدات تتعفن وتفوح منها روائح كريهة، قد تسبب انتشار امراض واوبئة...

- استهداف ثكنات ومواقع الجيش اللبناني:
اغار الطيران الحربي على ثكنة خدمات الجيش في الجمهور، وبلغت عدد غاراته سبع غارات. ادت هذه العملية الى سقوط 11 جندياً شهداء و39 جريحاً. وترافق هذا القصف بتحذيرات اسرائلية للجيش وتهديد بقصف مختلف ثكناته ومواقعه. كما يأتي هذا الحادث بعد استهداف موقع "العبدة" على الحدود اللبنانية الشمالية. وفسرت استهدافات الجيش بأنها رسالة موجهة له لكونه يعلن عن دعمه للمقاومة.
وسجل في محلة كفرشيما سقوط جسم غريب بعد استطلاعه، تسبب بحرائق، مما استدعى الدفاع المدني العمل على اطفائه، حيث تعرض عناصره لغارة جوية ادت لاحتراق عنصرين وجرح اخرين، بالاضافة لعدد من الضحايا المدنين، وضحايا عسكريين في ثكنة الجمهور المجاورة.

- جديد المجازر
- مجزرة بلدة عيثرون "بنت جبيل" مبنى محمود احمد عواضة، ذهب ضحيتها 13 مواطناً بينهم 9 اطفال وعدد كبير من الجرحى. علماً بأن ثمانية منهم يحملون الجنسية الكندية.
- مجزرة قانا "صور" استهدفت منازل ال غضبان وقدوح ذهب ضحيتها أكثر من ثمانية اشخاص بينهم اطفال.
- مجزرة القاسمية قرب النهر ذهب ضحيتها 3 فلسطنيين وجرح 4 أطفال .
- مجزرة علي النهري "البقاع" قصف مبنى ادى لمقتل 6 مدنيين بينهم طفلان.
- مجزرة في محلة الشمس خراج شحيم ادت لمقتل خمس اشخاص واصابة عشرة بجروح .
- وفي صبيحة هذا اليوم كان من البارز ارتكاب مجزرة في بلدة صريفا "صور" ذهب ضحيتها 23 مواطناً و30 جريحا. ومجزرة سلعا "صور" ذهب ضحيتها 11 مواطناً عدا الجرحى ومجزرة في النبطية ذهب ضحيتها ام واطفالها الثلاث والمربية...

- استهداف المصانع
- تدمير مصنع شركة "فاين" لتصنيع الورق الصحي ومعملاً لصناعة الكرتون في بلدة كفرجرة شرق صيدا.
- تدمير معمل "البان لبنان" في بعلبك
- تدمير معمل للبلاستيك بين بلدتي برج الشمالي والبازورية.
- قصف معمل تكرير المياه الاسنة بين الكفور والشرقية في منطقة النبطية.
- تدمير مصنع قبلان لتصنيع الفرش في المصيلح.
- تدمير معمل الموسوي لتصنيع مواد البناء في بعلبك.

- محطات المحروقات المستهدفة
- محطة جميل الحوراني في بنت جبيل.
- محطات ممتدة على جانبي المدخل الجنوبي لمدينة بعلبك من بينها محطة توتال لشفيق الطقش. محطة غصن ، محطة عباس الدبس محطة "طبيخ" في دورس.
- استهداف شاحنات النقل العامة:
يسجل في هذا المجال ضرب شاحنة على طريق زحلة- ظهور الشوير محملة بالادوية المقدمة من الامارات العربية المتحدة، وعودة عدد من سيارات الاسعاف المقدمة بدورها باتجاها سوريا. والموكب كان يرفع علم الصليب الاحمر.
قصف عشرات الشاحنات في محلة كفرشيما التي هربت من المرفأ واحراقها
غارة على مثلث صيدا الرميلة علمان "الجسر الرئيسي ب 4 صواريخ استهدف فان نتج عنه وفاة شخصين وتعذر سحب جثتهما كما اصيب سيارة خاصة صودف مرورها لحظة الحادث .
غارة على شاحنتين في جبيل متوقفتين على جانب الطريق.

- قدر عدد النازحين من بلداتهم اكثر من نصف مليون، وتحتضن صيدا حوالي خمسة الاف مواطن، يتم توزيعهم على المدارس الرسمية، ويجري التعامل معهم من قبل الجمعيات الاهلية بروح انسانية عالية.
- اهتمت سفارات الدول الغربية برعاياها وقد بوشر باجلائهم عن لبنان، كما ان الامم المتحدة طلبت من موظفيها غير المسؤولين مغادرة الاراضي اللبنانية.

Thousands Isolated in a Sea of Destruction

Bourj El Barajneh Refugee camp. Beirut Lebanon

TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN

First I would like to start with the situation here in Beirut. War has prevailed everywhere and the destruction has become our daily bread. First and foremost starting with Bourj Al Barajneh camp that is stuck in the middle of the fire and bombardment isolated from the surrounding areas leaving the residence suffering the tension of war and scarcity of life, since most of the Lebanese people were able to leave their place and houses to other parts of Beirut. Whereas the camp residence have no where to resort to except to stay in the camp.

Al Bourj camp is located in the southern suburb of Beirut surrounded by Hezbollah area where the bombs strike is very intensive day and night. It has three main entrances from the airport road other from Haret Horek and another one from the Bourj area. So all the bombing is around it. Therefore, the best way to reach the camp is from the airport road which has become very dangerous and targeted at anytime of the day and night with no previous warning which endangers our lives as well ….

As you could perceive I am the director of the Women's Humanitarian Organization in the camp as the war started people rushed to the supermarkets to supply with food but the supermarkets and shops were empty during the first hours. Immediately, the first idea that came up to my mind was how to aid my people in the camp and provide them with prompt assistance as a result of the severe conditions the Palestinians were living before and during the war were lamentable.80% of them are unemployed or have part time jobs and sometimes seasonal jobs. They earn their livings on day by day basis. So the critical question is how they could manage through this hard situation.

On 15-07-06,I visited the camp searching for answers to my question. I found out that people have decided to stay in the camp due to lack of any other place they can resort to due to shortage of money and housing. For to leave the camp it will cost them a lot in order to find a place and hire a car especially that they don't wish to relive the experience of being refugees for the second time. They told me we are already refugees do we need to be refugees again ? Today, 18-07-06 I went again to the camp and god grief I cant really describe that horrific trip. My car was the only moving vehicle Everywhere was in deep silence and destruction. It's only 4 km from my house to the camp the first half of the way was manageable but as we approached the camp it seemed to me from the first impression as if haunted by ghosts. No one can enter the area as it is extremely dangerous with the bombed airport on one side and the now totally destroyed Shi suburbs on the other.

It was a scene of total devastation with all the buildings and roads totally smashed. I was shocked and overwhelmed. There was the smell of death and destruction everywhere.

The moment I entered the camp I felt I was on an island so isolated from the surrounding. I joined the other NGOs and arranged for an emergency meeting with them for a long term plan to aid the camp. We didn't know where to start from, the needs were so massive and beyond our expectations. It's true that we have had a long experience during the past war but the situation now is different.

For now we have no hierarchal structure in the camp or maybe has almost disappeared. In the past the PLO was in charge and provided people with all the assistance, but now the question is who could carry this burden along with us (NGOs)? Even the NGOs are very tight with funds. All the shelters in the camp are not viable for protection at all. They have not been used since 1987 not even enough medical resources. The women, children and elderly are terrified and trapped after days of sustained brutal bombing of the entire area around our camp. There is no electricity, no fuel for the generators, no medial supplies and we are in urgent need of food and drugs for the children and the elderly.

As a result of our meeting all NGOs and activists have agreed upon the following needs:

Raising health & medical awareness regarding the situation especially that they are using chemical weapons and bombs and people need to be aware how to deal with such a situation. Babies' and children's food, mainly milk and diapers. Emergency medications: ventoline, for asthma, diabetic tablets, medicine for high blood pressure. Dressing materials, cardiac medicine, antipyretic, antibiotics, and medicine for diarrhea. Candles and matches. Drinking water, the camp lacks sources of water (people usually buy the drinking water) Detergent and insecticide. First aid workers (run courses) Gasoline for electricity generators for the hospitals, Fire extinguishers, First aid kits and stretchers. Electricity generators to facilitate life and for the work of the NGOs.

Our recent statistics show the following:

200 families fled into the camp from the surrounding area(those who lived for a long time ago outside the camp in Hezbollah area )and have no other place to resort to in Beirut.

1500 children under 6 years. 450 elderly with chronic diseases. 20,000 living in the camp.

By the end of the meeting we divided ourselves and took upon our responsibilities different tasks upon which to clean the shelters and mobilize ourselves for emergencies hoping to receive the support and funds on time to be able to provide our people with the urgent supplies and provisions needed. I left the camp praying to god to keep this road safe in order to come back again to our people with the aid and help.

We are facing a humanitarian crisis on an unprecedented scale and we call on the international community to stop Israel's total destruction of Lebanon and the killing of innocent civilians. We are in urgent need of humanitarian assistance and we ask all good people in the world to help us. Anyhow, a little aid makes difference. A beam of light gives hope to people in spite darkness.

Another Spy balloon carying cameras and transmission devices was shot down by Hezbollah over Neha in the Bekaa.

Rice in the middle east.

The US State Department says that Condoleezza Rice will be in the middle east soon.

European Union statement.

The European Union said that Hezbollah is responsible for this attack, and it is calling for an immediate cease of fire.

Israeli Attack aims.

Since the Beginning of the attack on Lebanon, part of the Israeli plan - besides the total destruction of the transportation newtork and the means of survival - was the assassination of the leaders of the Lebanese Resistance. Recently in Mashgara the house of Kassem al-Ankouny, one of the leaders of Hezbollah, was destroyed.

Confirmed news from doctors who are examining the burned dead bodies that Israel is using illegal chemical weapons which cause deadly burns.

Israeli massacres in Lebanon.

The continuous raids in South Lebanon and South Beirut have prevented many people from evacuating, but Israeli aircraft are not differentiating between helpless people, civil defense or Red Cross volunteers.
20 were killed in Tyre, all from the civil defense, and 10 other civilians in Kfarshima (Mount Lebanon) besides the massacres in Marwaheen, Srefa, Rmayli, Kheyam and other towns adding up to almost 200 dead and around 400 injured.
